Frequently Asked Questions
What is trauma-informed massage therapy?
Trauma-informed massage therapy recognizes that stress, trauma, and lived experience can influence how the body responds to touch, environment, and care. Sessions emphasize safety, consent, predictability, and pacing. You remain in control at all times, and care is adjusted based on your comfort and nervous system response.
Do I need to talk about my trauma or personal history?
No. You are never required to share personal history or explain experiences. Communication is limited to what feels necessary and comfortable for you.
What if I’ve had uncomfortable or overwhelming massage experiences before?
This practice is intentionally structured to avoid rushed or forceful care. Sessions are unhurried, consent-based, and adjusted immediately if something does not feel supportive. Your feedback is always welcome.
Do I have to fully relax or “let go” during the session?
No. There is no expectation to relax in any particular way. Nervous system regulation occurs gradually and naturally when safety and predictability are present.
Will I be required to use the sauna, cold plunge, or other modalities?
No. All supportive modalities are optional. Massage therapy alone is effective, and modalities are offered only when appropriate and with your consent.
Is this a spa or wellness center?
No. This is a private, clinical massage therapy practice focused on nervous system regulation and stress recovery. Care is one-on-one and appointment-only.
Do you accept insurance?
No. This is a private-pay practice. Payment is due at the time of service.
Is tipping expected?
No. Tipping is not expected or requested. Fees are structured to reflect the full cost of care in a clinical setting.
What should I wear to my session?
Wear whatever feels comfortable. You will be appropriately draped at all times, and adjustments can be made based on your comfort level.
What if I need to stop or change something during the session?
You are encouraged to speak up at any time. Pressure, pacing, positioning, or techniques can be adjusted immediately.
How often should I schedule sessions?
Frequency varies by individual. Some clients benefit from monthly sessions, while others prefer more consistent support. Options are discussed collaboratively and without pressure.
Is this practice appropriate for anxiety or burnout?
Many clients seek care for stress-related concerns such as anxiety, burnout, and chronic tension. Sessions are designed to support nervous system regulation rather than symptom-only relief.
Do you provide emergency or crisis care?
No. This practice does not provide emergency or crisis services. If you are in immediate distress, please contact appropriate emergency or mental health resources.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Appointments are scheduled online through the booking system. If you have general questions, you may use the contact form.
When I schedule Infrared Sauna & Chromotherapy or Warm/Cold Immersion Therapy, what should I be prepared to bring with me to my session?
